Montreal Toll Guide 2026: A25 and A30 Bridge Rates & Payment Methods
Navigating Montreal's road network often means crossing one of its two major toll bridges: the A25 (Olivier-Charbonneau Bridge) and the A30 (Serge-Marcil Bridge). Understanding how these tolls work can save you both time and money.
A25: Olivier-Charbonneau Bridge
The A25 bridge connects Montreal and Laval. It uses a fully automated "free-flow" tolling system, meaning there are no toll booths to stop at. Cameras scan your transponder or your license plate as you drive across.
2026 Toll Rates for A25
Toll rates on the A25 are dynamic, varying by vehicle size and time of day. As of June 1, 2025 (latest schedule), the basic structure remains in effect for 2026:
- Category 1 (Standard Cars/SUVs/Light Trucks): Under 230 cm in height.
- Category 2 (Large Vehicles): Height equal to or greater than 230 cm.
- Peak Hours: 6:01 AM - 9:00 AM & 3:01 PM - 6:00 PM (Weekdays).
- Off-Peak Hours: All other times, including weekends and holidays.
Pro Tip: Electric vehicles with a Quebec "Green Plate" and a valid transponder can cross the A25 bridge for FREE.
A30: Serge-Marcil Bridge
The A30 bridge (officially the Serge-Marcil Bridge) is part of the Montreal bypass, connecting Vaudreuil-Dorion and Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. Unlike the A25, the A30 retains physical toll booths, though electronic payment is highly encouraged.
2026 Toll Rates (Effective Feb 28, 2026)
| Vehicle Type | Rate per Axle |
|---|---|
| Standard Car (Category B) | $2.20 ($4.40 total for 2 axles) |
| Large Vehicles (Category C) | $3.30 ($6.60+ total) |
| Outsized Vehicles (Category A) | $80.00 |
How to Pay
1. Transponder (Cheapest & Fast)
Getting a transponder is highly recommended if you use these bridges more than once. It eliminates administrative fees ($4.00+ extra per crossing on A25 without one) and allows for seamless passage via the dedicated lanes on A30.
2. Pay-by-Mail (A25 Only)
If you don't have a transponder on the A25, an invoice will be sent to the address associated with your license plate. Note that this method includes significant administrative fees per crossing.
3. Credit/Debit (A30 Only)
You can pay via credit card or debit card at the A30 toll booths. Cash is generally no longer accepted for safety and efficiency reasons.
Avoid the "Shock Bill"
Always ensure your transponder account has a positive balance. Both A25 and A30 operators are strict about collection, and fees can escalate quickly if a bill goes unpaid.
